We get our first sponsor.

Guess what? I pitched this idea to my company, SumTotal Systems, and they're ready to sponsor T shirts, banners, stickers for cars, etc. :)
Folks from my company are interested. It remains to be seen whether techies from other companies join in in this initiative.
Please spread the word and do leave your comments.

(I think this could work)

Dear Friend,
Good idea. but don't you think all of us are almost aware of it. We are aware of do's and don'ts of traffic. The only hindrance is to follow them. Making people aware always is a thing that traffic cops say... but are they really doing it. if so why are the autos at the shilpakalavedika is not moved further a bit. i think we need to concentrate on this things if change is required in our traffic. i drive every day and i see lot of irresponsible driving which inturn makes my driving also at times horrible. some instances are - your orange color cab goes with not less than 100 km speed with lots of steap cuts, can some one who is sitting inside say the driver to slowdown... firstly i feel all offices should inform their cab drivers to strictly follow the sensible driving and have some restricted speed limits. i truely acknowledge your idea. i am following it and i urge people to do so...

Absolutely true, Raghu. That's also the essence of this initiative. To ask the people themselves, to quote a line from Michael Jackson's song Man in the Mirror, to "make that change"!

For cabs run by IT and BPO companies, if employees of these companies themselves tell the operations/admin department to be strict with errant cab drivers, the impact will be bigger.
If we want the traffic to change, then it will change, but that "we" has to be a sizable number and I believe with the huge number of IT employees in the vicinity of Madhapur, that critical number can be attained.

Do spread the word across! :)

Good Initiative friend,

Hope you'll make it to your goal..!!

we just have to start, and lets see how many more junctions we can make hassle free...

Thanks, Chintan! Small correction though - it should be "our" goal. Then we will definitely succeed. :)

To clear the left lanes we can persuade the road authorities to draw a line. Once the line is drawn then we have a basis to ask people not to stand in that line while waiting for singnal.

If we do not have the line then it means that we are just asking the people to help. The thing here is not help, we are educating what traffic rules are which indians do not know at present.

@Raghunath
That is a good point and is something we're looking to implement after talking to the traffic police.
